what's happening and where to connect

Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.

- 1 Corinthians 12:12-14

How to Join Burnt Hickory

When we speak of “placing membership,” that simply means that as a baptized disciple of Christ, you are choosing to make Burnt Hickory your church home and be involved in its work. Ideally, that means that you will attend worship, be part of one of our small groups, discipleship groups, and be involved in one of our ministries.

The first step is to attend Starting Point. This quarterly information session is hosted by our lead minister, and is where you can get your questions answered. There is no obligation if you come, but we will explain our mission and vision and the process for placing membership. To find out the date of the next Starting Point, call the church office at 678-354-2814.

To place membership, please click the link to complete and submit a BH Personal Profile form.

If you have not yet been baptized, please contact one of our ministers so that we can help you discover what the Bible says about this step in your spiritual journey.

  • Mom's Morning Out Bible Study

We are excited to start a new Mom’s Morning Out Bible study beginning Tuesday, October 26, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Moms of elementary-aged children and our Bright Beginnings moms are invited to join us as we begin a six week video series from RightNow Media titled, “Perfect Love.” We all want to be known and loved. Though we can experience deep relationships with others, there will always be a hole in our hearts for the perfect love of Christ. But, what does that really mean? How do we pursue intimacy with an invisible God? What if we do not feel worthy of His love? How can we respond when troubles kidnap our security in Christ?

In six powerful sessions, author and Bible teacher, Lisa Harper, walks women through the Song of Solomon to answer those questions and more. Though romance and marital love are typically associated with this book, Lisa takes a Christ-centered approach to illustrate how this ancient love story is relevant to your life and relationship with Jesus today. As she brings clarity to the text and as you watch real-life stories from other women, you will learn how to embrace God’s perfect love and realize your own beauty and worth in God’s eyes.

Make plans to join us for coffee, friendship, and diving deeper into God’s word! Click here to sign up and register for childcare, if needed. The group will meet in Room 200 (the Expanse room).

Pray & Go - Saturday, October 30 - A Day to Pray for Our Community

Save the Date! We want our city to know that we’re their friends. We want them to be blessed and know that, regardless of what they’re going through, they will be loved at Burnt Hickory Church of Christ. On Saturday, October 30, from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., we will go into our community, pray over houses and neighborhoods, and leave a door hanger that lets them know that we’ve asked God to bless them. Water and snack bars will be provided. Meet at 10:15 a.m. at the building. Then, Matt Carver will distribute lists of the areas in the community where you and your “prayer partners” can go. Of course, you can also go to whatever areas you think need prayer!
