burnt hickory children’s ministry exists to partner with parents in leading children to know, love and follow Jesus Christ.

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."  - Matthew 19:14

Our mission in action

Sunday classes

We offer classes for children beginning at 6 weeks through 5th grade. Nursery and Preschool classes are grouped by age and our Elementary age classes are grouped by grade levels. Our Nursery class enjoys a traditional Cradle Roll curriculum that involves learning about God and His creation through the use of songs, puppets, and toys. Preschool and Kindergarten children are learning three simple, but powerful truths that God made them, He loves them, and Jesus is their friend using the First Look Curriculum. This curriculum is designed to incite wonder through age-appropriate activities as they build their spiritual foundation. In our combined First and Second grade class, they are learning about Christian Character and Bible Basics like how to use the Bible, memorizing scripture, learning the books of the Bible, and more as they explore foundational Bible stories from the Old and New Testament. Our combined Third – Fifth grade class uses 252 Kids, a three-year curriculum designed around the three basic truths modeled by Jesus in Luke 2:52; make wise choices, trust God, and treat others the way you want to be treated while focusing on 150 key Bible stories, 4 faith skills, and 30 life applications. 252 Kids provokes discovery and invites kids into a new understanding of how to grow in their relationship with Jesus.  Classes are taught in an interactive format using teaching styles to reach every style of learner. Our Sunday School Classes are our primary environment for teaching the Bible.

Nursery

We provide loving care during our morning worship service for infants through 23 months.

PRESCHOOL worship

We provide a special time of age appropriate worship for our children on Sunday mornings during our service.  Preschool Worship is for 2 year old through PreKindergarten aged children.  A team of worship leaders help children worship God in ways they can understand and connect.

We take child safety seriously

The Burnt Hickory leadership believes God expects us to make our church a safe place for children. In an effort to do our best to provide a safe environment, our children and youth leaders and volunteers are required to submit an application, go through a background check, and Child Safety Training.

  • In all of our ministries with children and youth, this congregation is committed to demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ so that each child may experience the blessings of Jesus: "but Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to Me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.'" (Matthew 19:14)
