Child Protection Training

All those working with children are required to go through this approval process before they begin serving.

The same process is required every 3 years to be re-certified to work with children.

Follow the below steps:

  1. Read the Child Protection Policies.
  2. Print and complete Application and Release FORM
  3. Print and complete the Background Investigation Consent and the Additional Information Needed  Important Note - On the Georgia Background Investigation Consent Form, the police department has become very particular. Use blue or black ink. The first line should be that you give permission for "Burnt Hickory Church of Christ." Be sure to use your legal name both at the top and at the signature line. The names should match at both places. On the valid question, you can check either top or bottom option. If you check the top one, put in at least 30 days to complete the background check. Check "E" for employment  even though you're not an employee. They won't accept any other box checked.
  4. If the volunteer is a minor, print Affidavit and have it completed by parent(s) or legal guardian instead of background investigation consent. The affidavit requires a notary signature.
  5. Give completed and signed forms to the Children's or Youth Minister, or return them to the church office.
  6. You will receive an e-mail which will include a link to the online training.  There are multiple lessons in the course, which can be completed in about 30 minutes. You may exit at any time and continue later where you left off. Once completed, the church office is automatically notified.

Thank you for your willingness to serve in the Children or Youth Ministries!

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." - Matthew 19:14
