Jesus remained on earth for 40 days after he was raised from the dead. While with his disciples, Jesus told them to go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to everyone, so that whoever believes and is baptized will be saved! Jesus also told them to teach everyone all the things he had taught them, and he would be with them always.

After Jesus told this to his disciples, he ascended into Heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. As the disciples were looking up into heaven, a cloud hid Jesus from their view. Then, two men dressed in white came and asked why they were staring into the sky. And they told the disciples one day Jesus would return to earth the same way they saw him go!

The power of Jesus is amazing! Death no longer has power over us. Through our baptism, we are given the gift of the Holy Spirit, and we may be with God in heaven through Jesus. We should live ready for Jesus to return because we know he is coming back!

Activity:

Stand at the first marked spot and see Jesus rising into heaven. Then move to the second spot so he is hidden by a cloud. Say a prayer alone or with some friends and family to thank God for his great rescue plan of sending Jesus as the final sacrifice for the sins of all the people of the whole world! HE IS RISEN! PRAISE THE LORD!

Lesson:

The power of Jesus is amazing! Death no longer has power over us. Through our baptism, we are given the gift of the Holy Spirit, and we may be with God in heaven through Jesus. We should live ready for Jesus to return, because we know he is coming back!
